Founded in California and serving clients statewide and beyond, Broadview Mitigation is a boutique consultancy offering comprehensive mitigation services to public defenders, private attorneys, and advocacy organizations. Our work brings legal strategy and human insight together—ensuring sentencing decisions reflect the full context of a person’s life.
MEET THE FOUNDER: LOUIS WILLIAMS
Louis Williams (he/him/his) is a Mitigation Specialist with over five years of domestic and international experience in the Human Rights and Criminal Justice Field. Louis excels in life history investigations, trauma-informed interviewing, collaboration with attorneys and experts, and developing persuasive mitigation reports.
His qualifications include:
- LL.M in Human Rights Law (Distinction), University of Edinburgh
- BSc (Hons) in Criminology and Criminal Justice (GPA 3.92), University of Portsmouth
- Specialized training as a Mitigation Specialist at Full Picture Justice (formerly Community Resource Initiative), and the Bryan R. Shechmeister Death Penalty College at UC Santa Clara Law School
Louis has contributed to global justice efforts through work with:
- Full Picture Justice, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Penal Reform International, Danish Institute Against Torture (DIGNITY), Howard League for Penal Reform (Scotland), and Penal Reform Solutions
- First-hand experience supporting incarcerated individuals facing the death penalty, life in prison without the possibility of parole (LWOP), and other serious punishments.
